Maybe nobody could, but as Dr. Tyrell said before succumbing to patricide, “the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.” I get that there are brighter lights nowadays—the above-excerpted Button storyline, a show about a father and son playing Final Fantasy together, the health and well-being of my child—but this cancellation felt like a personal loss, yet another rebuke of my preferences by powerful popular opinion with which I continue to lose touch.
