McCain☆Palin

I didn’t know David Foster Wallace, haven’t read his book and didn’t bat an eye upon hearing of his death, but he qualified his coverage of McCain in 2000 (when even I might’ve voted for him—hey, in my defense all I knew of Al Gore back then was from what Ice-T had to say about his wife) by remarking that Grandpa Simpson
[…] has obviously changed; his flipperoos and weaselings on Roe v. Wade, campaign finance, the toxicity of lobbyists, Iraq timetables, etc. are just some of what make him a less interesting, more depressing political figure now—for me, at least. It’s all understandable, of course—he’s the GOP nominee now, not an insurgent maverick.
And the Bush administration he calls “an unmitigated horror show of rapacity, hubris, incompetence, mendacity, corruption, cynicism and contempt for the electorate”. Maybe I will check out that book.
