That’s what I might call a photoblog site, if I were to host one, though it took me this long to realize I could just create this single post and maintain it indefinitely by editing the “Published on:” date with each addition.

Augment Argument

Sounds like a Betty & Veronica story title. Came across this entry from more than seven years ago while searching for anything I had written on the Outer Limits, whose draft I’ll get around to eventually, after I heap some praise on Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Alas, technology’s still not here yet for

[…] a personal trainer who’d holographically be visible only to the wearer of, say, specially-equipped Oakley Wires. She’d take the form of a busty Japanese idol, of course, run backwards at your pace and motivate you to improve it. Upgrades would allow her to sweat in kind. Problems I foresee include my legs buckling under the added weight, or tripping over it outright, and keeping an eye out for cross-traffic.
And the broken image:

Changes

The times they certainly are a-plenty of them, and I thought I might use the opportunity to implement one here, too, transferring everything to X’s beta site, but even that undertaking, involving a WordPress reinstall and possible theme re-tool, proved too much for my diminishing drive.

Oh, I’d been tempted to update, especially with developments like these——not to mention some trademark quips about the Lost finale, but forums sufficed. So let’s fire her up again, and hope that my brain doesn’t go the way of my car battery (which I wrestled with for an hour last night before giving up trying to get past the starter and left crud under my fingernails I couldn’t completely wash out to burp and change the baby; other parents want theirs to be doctors, lawyers, President, and I’d be happy with an auto mechanic).

Work in Progress

This new theme is, but I switched because I missed the strict formatting of my older blogs and all those widgets and things were cluttering up what had originally started as minimalist. The fancy fonts will take some getting used to, if I even keep them. And I guess by now it’s considered retro, but I’m still digging the Designers Republic-inspired icons-only approach; I’d do the whole site like their Wipeout interface, but I’ve given up even trying to right-align them on the side. Although I’ll most certainly remove that § symbol, which any law student will tell you stands for section number and not some proof that these aren’t “the words for a sermon no one will hear” (which is yes, a line I’ve used before).

Europe

We’ve already gone here and there together, but 老婆 insists this was our official honeymoon. Lets me bring up my life-long interest in the origin of the word, at least ever since seeing a Korean club with the name in Houston—which I look back now and would describe as seedy, probably a front for prostitution—and making the odd connection with the French word “miel”; this would include

蜜月 (mìyuè)
みつげつ (mitsugetsu) and the aforementioned
밀월 (milwol)

Etymology suggests a Proto-Indo-European heritage for the word “honey”. Amazing how small the world was back when it didn’t take a ten-hour flight between continents with Virgin’s impressive video library.

She’s put most of the rest on Facebook, but I’ve learned my lesson from Textamerica and am not about to trust my online immortality with the latest fad. SOL, of course, if WordPress doesn’t save to standalone HTML like Movable Type.

i, i, i

—The third I is for iPhone. Yes, your humble narrator demonstrates his propensity for metanoia and caves to Jesus. In all honesty I can’t bear the thought of talking into a piece of glass (perhaps it reminds me too much of those formative years spent trying to cool the fever in my heart with my forehead against the window looking outside), and I was astounded how good the keypad on the $299 Bold felt just days ago when I first went into AT&T to discuss porting my number, but the apps won me over. 50,000,000 Elvis fans may so be wrong, but surely that raises the likelihood of something worthwhile being developed for it.

Though it ain’t the WordPress app, which I’ve given up on, and just as well, because I doubt I’d be satisfied blogging without being able to hyperlink across tabs and prove that I’m only repeating myself. It’s ironic how BlackBerry fanbois remind us to test the Storm fairly by clearing everything running in the background, but Gmail and AIM are crippled here without being able to. I do like Crazy Mouth, is it any surprise, yet how much better would it be were the animations voice-activated, so you could fake your way through the gamut of human emotions without lifting the phone except to eat.

Flickr v1.201

Flickr’s full and Picasa doesn’t work. Let’s use this opportunity to compare cellphone photos from what’s become a yearly tradition out to Indian casinos for the mother-in-law:

I can’t get them to display centered in the post yet, but it seems to suffice. (Update: Oh, and I cluttered up my sidebar even more with that widget—so much for the plain in my “plaintxtblog” theme—but without adding more images, I’m still not sure what is gallery and what’s library.) Curve’s default camera setting bests the HTC’s, big freakin’ surprise there. But Martin put it all into perspective by telling me today he’s pre-ordered an unlocked Storm for $699.

Scategories

This is probably the fourth or fifth time I’ve revamped them and reassigned all my posts to the new ones (the previous having been Douglas Adams’ “Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication” historical phases of Galactic Civilization), and who knows how long these’ll last. I first considered going with four letters, like I suggested 남재 put on T-shirts for Christmas gifts, such as “TTEH” and “EUFF”, but there are enough other 윤-isms with one less, not to mention in popular culture nowadays, and they remind me of the TLA’s used in 2001. Those that aren’t quite so self-explanatory include GGG, or ゴーゴーゴー, indicating some remarkable feat of initiative; HMM, the ubiquitous chat response that implies higher thinking is in process, but more often than not it’s just because conversation’s stalled; MEH is likewise the web generation’s floccinaucinihilipilification, isn’t it; MMM, from Homer Simpson; and of course, YYY for “yeah yeah yeah”, which you’d think would be a more frequent expression as I got older, from the surrender to life inherent in the acknowledgment, or at least about the same while I transitioned there from the impatience in my youth. It’s a good thing these categories aren’t mutually exclusive.

龜毛
And here’s Tag 龜毛 [update—which I’ve since replaced with the YYY Category because of the general unfriendliness to double-byte characters], which I reconcile with its use in Japanese (亀毛兎角) to mean “so picky [as to want] something that doesn’t exist.”

Hello world!

Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

…Good-bye, Yahoo!  GoDaddy’s ⅓rd the price of $11.95/mo. Small Business hosting, MovableType (which was all I was using it for) not nearly as flexible, and I was getting sick of their AP-biased news headlines.  Taking a while to sort through these fancy plugins, and who knows if I’ll ever get my archives in order, but it’s helluva lot easier than moving house.  I’m not quite settled on that choice of name, however.

Where Am I?
