I do keep an eye out for dogs, and this morning as I was making a right onto 166th stopped because there was one halfway into the crosswalk, no owner in sight, no collar visible. A larger one of the same breed and color, maybe its parent, stayed close to the curb next to the car and seemed to be motioning for it to return, which it finally did after the truck behind me honked. We don’t get many strays in these parts, much less partners of them (I suppose they may have been freed upon the death of their elderly master), so I wonder where they got to.

Wasn’t going to let go without a look back at some of my remaining memories from the series, those weird aliens with bowler hats, the kid in the mirror world saying he doesn’t have a reflection to break (which I really could’ve sworn wasn’t from the Black-and-White season), and the awesome way they’d abruptly lead into the next episode after an almost disappointing lack of epilogue at the end. Lesson I should’ve learned was that you’re never lost when you’ve got each other? And apparently some of the From showrunners worked on Lost, but I stick by what I recently said that whatever it is they’ve put together so far and dangle for as long as their budget lasts reminds me less of it and more of Land of the Lost.

In keeping with recent Seinfeld-related posts (though this is probably how we want to remember her, i.e., “in our best ages”):

In the furor over the 1899 cancellation a Reddit poster suggested a much cheaper and renewed Epix series From, which I binged in but a day or two and might have something more to say about (I honestly don’t, other than to hope this incarnation of Lost delivers at least one “[The] Constant”—what’s with these four-letter titles; Evil, too), for an opportune upload on Nyaa led me back to Netflix and overlooked drama 방법 from a few years ago. Brilliant villianess and some nice ideas like the gathering of shamans from around the world like Street Fighter, one of them being a manga artist like Lovecraft’s Pickman, though the best part was undoubtedly the craziest zombie chase scene, ever, in the follow-up film. If only Inspector Koo‘s 12 episodes could’ve received such treatment! …The thought got me started on a rewatch, and with that in mind, there certainly is enough material seeded for a similar short sequel, one that pits the team against a challenging enough one-off opponent but in the process, of course, must solve the mystery behind her husband’s suicide, which K was right, involved 산타씨, but maybe not as she described. “Santa’s Secret” could be the subtitle.

I suppose it’s never too late to be taken by surprise. And honestly, even if I had known about the Atari Falcon at the turn of the millennium, I doubt it’d have broken my resolve outside CompUSA, nor lessened my subsequent experiences in Liberty and Vice Cities, among the many places that glorious black monolith took me. This chance historical revelation does, in fact, reinforce my long-held belief that their next iteration nose-dived and explains my disenchantment with console gaming, maybe a loss of faith in the Sony of old. (I say that as if I’m an Apple convert, but the PS3 still sits connected to the even older XBR LCD, which I refuse to update with dominant 재벌 brands and if we ever make it back to Japan, I’m definitely buying one of these.) You’re my only hope to feel again, GTA6!

r/KillingEve had a meltdown after the series finale, and though one might easily snicker at the lugubriosity, the writing had certainly been on the wall, hit the fan then the wall, anywhere else in the house or down the plumbing except that nice stack of paper in the Stephen J. Cannell Productions closing credits. They might as well have given the characters the happy ending (together) the fans wanted, because it wasn’t as if they were doing something meaningful with them, regardless. I very much prefer the fate, however more conservative, of Korean version “K”, who at least we see in the end still defined by her own psychosis instead of a connection to another person. Same can’t be said of Ruth Wilson’s Alice Morgan or worse, Criminal Intent’s Nicole Wallace; the latter as it turns out, was un-fridged in a head-scratching single-seasoner set in English-speaking Paris and up to her old tricks with a different leading man.

Had started collecting my thoughts and supporting links for a post on the fall of this minor celebrity from the misbegotten 90’s (which turns out wasn’t too far) and maybe those like her, but keeping it as a draft all this time seemed only to discourage me from writing entirely. Not that imagining the circumstances capable of bringing about change of such extraordinary magnitude, perceived or otherwise, was in any way affecting my own disposition, but rather I find myself just not giving a fuck. Like I’ve become indifferent to differences that would’ve once had me curious how they could come about and might even affect me, my relationships, society at large, or at the very least give us something to talk about on our interminably long phone calls back then.
[I’m reserving this space in the hopes of segueing to a more interesting dream, because I’ve been sleeping an awful lot lately.]
Well, it wasn’t Tralfamadore with Jenna Coleman, but I dreamed I preposterously claimed to be the actor “behind” Will Arnett, I’m not sure why, but it was a small enough lie not to be disputed by my listeners. There must’ve been some credulity threshold that wasn’t exceeded by the benefit from maintaining the pretense.
World’s Most Boring Person

“The top five most boring hobbies”, according to a study outta England (and not one of their classic 70’s shows):
1.) Sleeping
2.) Religion
3.) Watching TV
4.) Observing animals [I will never not laugh at this clip]
5.) Mathematics
An excerpt from one of several pinnacles of the franchise, accomplishing in a single 45-minute episode what the new series cannot in two season-long arcs. Talk about boring! Fuck Akiva Goldsman, everything that hack touches is shit.
